BEECH MOUNTAIN ROOFING & GUTTERS
Roof replacement, repairs, metal roofing, and snow management for Beech Mountain homes, cabins, and rentals — planned for some of the toughest weather in the High Country.
Beech Mountain sits at about 5,500 feet, one of the highest towns in the eastern United States. Roofs up here face more snow, harder freezes, rime ice, fog, and stronger wind than almost anywhere else we work.
That changes how a roof should be built. We pay close attention to underlayment coverage, ventilation, fastening, flashing, and snow guards — the details that decide whether a roof makes it through a Beech Mountain winter without leaks or damage.
Many homes on the mountain are second homes and vacation rentals. We work with owners and property managers, send photos of what we find, and plan larger projects around the weather windows and rental calendar.
Complete tear-off and replacement with materials and fastening suited to high-elevation snow, ice, and wind.
Learn more →Metal roofing that sheds snow and stands up to wind, with snow guards to control where snow and ice come down.
Learn more →Diagnosis and repair of leaks caused by ice dams, wind-driven rain, failed flashing, and worn pipe boots.
Learn more →Fall and spring inspections for homes and rentals that sit empty, with photo reports for out-of-town owners.
Learn more →Heavy-duty gutters, guards, and heat cables sized for snowmelt and protected from sliding ice.
Learn more →Wind and ice damage documented for insurance, with emergency tarping to protect the interior until permanent repairs are done.
Learn more →Deep, long-lasting snow and frequent ice storms load the roof and drive ice dams. Full ice-and-water shield and good ventilation are essential.
Exposed high-elevation lots see powerful gusts. We use high-wind fastening, sealed edges, and secure ridge details.
Frequent fog and rime ice keep surfaces wet and coated. Corrosion-resistant flashing and fasteners hold up better over time.
We serve Beech Mountain and the communities around it in Avery and Watauga counties, including:

Real reviews from Google. The same things come up again and again: clear communication, honest work, on-time finishes, and a clean job site.
Shoutout to RoofSmith Roofing for the excellent work this week! Prompt and professional with installers that were exceedingly careful with the property and grounds; I couldn’t have asked for a better company in which to entrust my home!
We used them for metal roofs on both our tiny house and our main home, and they were fantastic. Super fast response time, easy to communicate with, and just great people to work with. The quality of the work speaks for itself—we’re so happy with how everything turned out. Would absolutely use RoofSmith again!
Very professional and great communication. The best option in the Wilkesboro area. Job site was very clean when they were finished. Highly recommend!
Standing seam metal is a common choice at this elevation because it sheds snow and handles wind well, usually paired with snow guards. High-wind architectural shingles and synthetic slate also work when they are installed with full ice-and-water shield, good ventilation, and proper fastening.
We handle emergency tarping and repairs in winter when conditions allow, and we schedule full replacements for the best weather windows of the year.
Yes. Many of our Beech Mountain clients are out-of-town owners. We coordinate with property managers, plan around rental bookings, and send photo updates on every visit.
Look for a contractor who is licensed in North Carolina, carries both liability and workers' compensation insurance, gives you a written itemized estimate, and puts the warranty in writing. Ask who will actually do the work, whether they handle the permit, and for local references. Roofsmith Roofing is an NC licensed general contractor, fully insured, and uses its own trained crews on every job.
Yes. We are based in Boone and focus on Boone and Blowing Rock, and we serve all of Watauga, Avery, and Ashe counties — including Banner Elk, Valle Crucis, Foscoe, Seven Devils, Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Linville, Newland, and West Jefferson.
It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the material, how many old layers need to come off, whether any decking needs replacement, and how easy the site is to access. Steep mountain roofs and metal systems cost more up front than a simple shingle roof. We provide a free written, line-item estimate so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Most High Country homes use either architectural shingles or standing seam metal. Shingles cost less up front and come in many colors; standing seam metal sheds snow well, handles wind, and lasts longer. Synthetic slate and cedar-look products are good options where appearance matters. We will walk you through the trade-offs for your specific home and budget.
Yes. After wind, hail, or ice damage we inspect the roof, photograph and itemize the damage, provide a detailed repair estimate, and work directly with your insurance adjuster. If water is coming in, we can tarp the roof to protect the interior while the repair is scheduled.
Every installation comes with our written craftsmanship warranty on labor, and premium shingle and metal systems also carry the manufacturer's material warranty. We explain both in writing before work begins.
